Father Brent was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in Southeast Florida (50 miles north of Miami), Father Brent Carey comes to STMAA from San Diego, California, where he’s lived since 2001.Brent is a graduate of The Ohio State University (B.A. in Theatre, 1976) and the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (M.Div., 1993) in Berkeley, California. Having been raised up for ordination in the Diocese of California (San Francisco), he’s served parishes in the dioceses of New Hampshire, Southwestern Virginia, San Diego, and Western Michigan. Most recently, Brent served as the Interim Rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 17 months covering portions of 2015 and 2016. Beginning in 2011, he’s undertaken the training offered by the Interim Ministry Network and now specializes in Transition Ministry. Brent is the father of 4 children ranging in age from 22 to 13. He’s a life-long fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, and a true Scarlet and Gray member of Buckeye Nation in the diaspora. Father Brent is delighted to be working with STMAA during the transitional time and could be convinced to root for the Royals and Chiefs.
