To be an Acolyte is a privilege and a responsibility, serving God, serving St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, and mentoring each other. Most Acolytes are youth volunteers from 7th grade though 12th grade who provide an integral part of the ministry to the worship services at St. Michael and All Angels each Sunday and at special services throughout the year, but adults are welcomed to serve in this ministry as well.
There are four teams of six that serve every other Sunday, one 8:45 am service and one 10:45 am service. Among various performances, acolytes are responsible for lighting and extinguishing the candles on the altar, processing with the cross, the torches that illuminate the cross and the Gospel procession, and leading children both to and from Children’s Chapel, just to name a few!
These young adults enrich the liturgy by their presence and demonstrate responsibility and maturity as they serve God and each other. For information on becoming an Acolyte, contact Susie Swanson.
