Men Committed to Living out the Christian Adventure Together

We are a Christ-centered community of men who believe that following Jesus is a life of adventure together.

We do not harbor illusions that being Christian is easy. But, we gather for friendship and support in this journey with the knowledge that our shared experience will be even greater for each of us.

The name Men in Mission Ministry acknowledges that all of us serve in some type of care for our brothers and sisters. This group is open to all men of the parish, regardless of their level of faith or insight.

Our symbolic cross contains an arrow pointed heavenward to symbolize our hunt (search) for God and the fish that represents our fishing (evangelism) for people.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

Men’s Bible Study
We gather on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 am at Homer’s to study the next Sunday’s lectionary readings.

Annual Men’s Retreat
Each year we gather for our annual Men’s retreat, usually at Conception Abbey located in northwest Missouri to hear about and discuss our faith and spirituality. We pray with the monks and then experience a Eucharist in the chapel before we return home. Look for event information in the newsletter, on our St. Michael’s Facebook event page, and on the bulletin board outside the church office.

Adventure Trip
In 2013 we celebrated the 25th anniversary of our Men’s Adventure Trip to the North Fork of the White River deep in the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri. It is a weekend of outdoor fellowship, fishing, and campfires. Check out photos from the trip.

Turkey Fry
In the late fall we hold our Turkey Fry where we have a dynamic speaker on contemporary topics and serve deep fried turkey. Speakers have included Buck O’Neil, Negro Leagues Player, and Dr. Robert Drummond, Director of TLC for Children & Families and Board Member of Johnson County Community College. This dinner also gathers significant amounts of warm clothing for Project Uplift.

Service Projects
Our Carpenter Ants perform numerous home related projects for women and elderly in our parish.

Stewardship
